The Beginning

Okay...so this is my first blog post. I am already making some changes and I am doing two important things:

1)Quitting my job at UPS.

2)Finally gonna get serious about writing my book Brother of The Struggle

Alright, so I don't plan to stay unemployed. Hopefully I Get this job at the end of August as a law clerk, which will be pretty decent I guess. The reason why I quit UPS is because for one, they DO NOT pay enough. 116 dollars a week...ha ha. Not enough, when my back is killing me every day after work. Now some say I should be thankful to get such a crappy job, being a felon and all, but even so. I got this illegal child support payment now taking literally all my paycheck, which I don't know how you can take child support when no one knew about the court date. But that's one of the issues I will address in my book as well. But I know for a fact that there is a better job for an intelligent young fellow like myself. The key now is to finding it. I am thinking about "jazzing" up my resume with a couple of lies...lol...nah I am just kidding. But Wal-Mart is hiring for overnight stockers paying 10 an hour, and it's full-time. That or McDonalds at this point...who knows.

Now about this book. I have finally decided to write my book. How much of it do I have done? Well, officially, none. But I do have all my journal entries and jail letters to go off of, and my not-so reliable memory. But the major events in my life I do remember, and that's what my book is pretty much based on. Hopefully I get my friend (who I have known longer than most family members) to help me write it, because primarily he has a degree in Journalism, and that would REALLY REALLY help. Now I feel like I have a pretty good mastery of the English language, especially from a literary standpoint, considering I read a lot of books. But this book is gonna be a masterpiece, but I really want to get published, or get the ball rolling or something. My girlfriend is really supportive of both ideas (at least, she seems to be), and is willing to help me organize my book and writings and whatnot. To give you an idea of what exactly the book is about, I will copy a piece of my query letter.

"I am a considerably young (22 year old) author interested in publishing a non-fiction novel called Brother of the Struggle, and is based upon my experiences as a black man growing up in America, my experiences with dealing with high school in the inner-city and in the suburbs, coming from a broken home and dealing with domestic violence and abuse, racism in the military, and going to jail and being illegally convicted of a felony in Texas, as well as a host of other topics to which many people, regardless of race can identify with.It discusses the effects on a person, and society at large, and how people become marginalized and subjugated to a mediocre lifestyle. I feel that my novel would fit very well in the African-American section or political section, or maybe even inspirational. This book does touch on a large swath of different genres and topics."

Alright, so there you go.

You know...I kinda like this blogging thing. I see how it caught on with people.

Okay. Post over. You will definitely hear more from me soon.
